Building a buzz – Visual identity for Cube Partners & the Beehive
We loved the name from the start.
Inspired by a sketch found on her travels, the name ‘Beehive’ was the perfect fit for Kay’s new business idea. As the owner of successful Chartered Accountants Cube Partners, Kay was looking for a partner to help bring her new project to life.
Initially we were invited to offer our ideas around the Beehive’s logo and brand. Following a detailed brief of the new venture and how it sat alongside the Cube Partners business, we designed a number of concepts including the final design shown below.
The designer’s view
Kay’s businesses have personality in spades, and as a big selling point in the finance world, I felt the Beehive’s branding should embrace their personal approach. Accounting is serious business though, so I thought a happy medium would be to keep a clean minimal look while hand drawing the graphic, using a rounded typeface and adopting a playful yet modern colour palette.
A simple, responsive website redesign gives both businesses a consistent, modern feel, while a blogging tool allows the Cube team to share their knowledge regularly through news articles and links. A new social strategy has been fully embraced by Kay and her team, quickly building a large following on Twitter @cubeparters (a particularly great follow if you’re a fan of rugby or the Northampton Saints).
We continue to meet with Kay and her team regularly and enjoy exploring new ways to help move both businesses forward. This includes additional content for the web, Apps to help improve internal processes and fun ways to engage with staff.
